Primary tabs

Lisa Yaszek, LMC professor and director of undergraduate studies, recently published an essay that explores the centuries-old tradition of African-American authors that have modeled stories about black scientific genius on the figure of Revolutionary-era free black scientist Benjamin Banneker.

Yaszek's essay appears in the anthology, Black and Brown Planets: The Politics of Race in Science Fiction (2014), which was edited by Isiah Lavender and published by the University Press of Mississippi.
