Getting to Know Leslie O'Neill

Leslie O'Neill joined the Division in September as the Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs. She has been at GT since July 2001 and has worked in the National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network (Administrative Manager and Research Experience for Undergraduates Program Coordinator), Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology (Administrative Manager and Human Resources Manager), Global Learning Center (Project Coordinator II), and Department of Planned Giving in the Office of Development (Administrative Assistant II). Leslie received her Bachelor of Science from Florida State University and is a Certified Paralegal. She also has one year of Graduate coursework towards her MBA. But now, lets get to know Leslie a little better!

How did you end up at Georgia Tech?

When I was job seeking, my first interview was in Development in an office overlooking the football field.  It brought back so may fond memories of my college days in marching band, that I decided that Georgia Tech was the place for me.

 

What is the one piece of technology you cannot live without?

My computer


What is the biggest risk you have ever taken, and did it pay off?

I overcame my fear of speaking in public by taking a course at the Museum of Science in Boston titled "Communicating Science to a Non-Science Audience".  It enabled me to overcome the fear of public speaking as well as teach the same course to undergraduates for the past few years.

 

What is your greatest accomplishment?
My family 

 

Tell us something about yourself that others might not know…

I got to perform in pre-game with the marching band in a Super Bowl while I was in college.
