Atlanta, GA — March 19, 2014 — Georgia Tech is pleased to welcome the network science and engineering community to our campus for the 19th GENI Engineering Conference, March 17 – 19th at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center.  More than 250 people attended sessions on topics including, “Getting Started with GENI” and  “GENI in the Classroom: Experiences and New Developments.” Attendees also participated in a demo session with 40 demonstrations, which gives new and existing GENI experimenters and projects a chance to share their work in a live network environment. A unique aspect of this GEC was a lively industry panel that focused on opportunities for commercial application opportunities for the work of the GENI community.

Georgia Tech has been actively involved in the GENI project from its beginning. The Georgia Tech team participated in the GENI Mesoscale buildout by supporting the early campus trials of OpenFlow network technologies. We have embraced the GENI effort through engagement in research, education and production implementation of GENI resources. The campus currently hosts an InstaGENI rack and is working with partners to deploy additional GENI resources. The GT team also supports the GENI regional buildout at SoX and is currently leading the efforts to bring SDN-based peering to GENI.
