Six College of Computing professors recently joined the fellows rank for several of the most prestigious science, engineering and computing associations.

The American Association of the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) all announced the Class of 2014 slate of fellows.

Among the new fellows are:

• Henrik Christensen, distinguished professor in the School of Interactive Computing and KUKA Chair of Robotics, as an AAAS fellow for contributions to information, computing and communication.
• Umakishore Ramachandran, professor in the School of Computer Science, as an IEEE fellow for contributions to programming idioms for parallel and distributed systems and design of scalable shared memory systems.
• Raghupathy Sivakumar, professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering with an adjunct appointment with the School of Computer Science, as an IEEE fellow for contributions to the design of algorithms and protocols for wireless networking and mobile computing.
• John Stasko, professor in the School of Interactive Computing as an IEEE fellow for contributions to information visualization, visual analytics and human-computer interaction.
• Sudhakar Yalamanchili, professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering as an adjunct appointment with the School of Computer Science, an IEEE fellow for contributions to high-performance multiprocessor architecture and communication.
• Ellen Zegura, professor in the School of Computer Science as an ACM fellow for contributions to communication and computation in intermittingly-connected networks.
