Continuity of Operations Planning Class

Primary tabs

This course is designed to provide personnel with the background and template for building their own departmental continuity of operations plan (COOP). The COOP plan is designed to address the immediate aftermath, short-term and long-term (up to 30 days) with focus on continuing essential functions, which would become extremely important in the event of a catastrophic event that would disable their building for an extended time period. Participants will learn how to conduct a hazard analysis, identify and prioritize departmental essential functions, including vital records, systems and equipment. Participants will also learn how to use GT Ready, a business continuity planning tool that is specific to institutions of higher education to increase the institution's ability to keep operating in the face of disruptive events. These 90 minute classes are limited to 15 people; you will need your GT computer username and password in the class. Departmental Business Managers, IT personnel and building managers are strongly encouraged to attend.
