Eames at the Fair: A Legacy of Communication Design

Celia Pearce, associate professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, will give a presentation at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) during its current Eero Saarinen exhibit.

Pearce will read an exerpt from Meet Me at the Fair, a collection of essays on worlds fairs she co-edited.

While best known for its furniture and films, the Office of Charles and Ray Eames also made major contributions to innovation in exhibition design, particularly in world’s fairs. This talk will discuss the Eames Office’s work in worlds fair design, focusing on its thirty-year relationship with IBM and related collaborations with Eero Saarinen which resulted in several landmark projects.

Doors open at 6pm. The lecture will begin at 6:30pm.
