The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) is a Japanese agency for funding research.  JSPS supports various research fields, such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, computer sciences, biomedical sciences, humanity and social sciences etc.  Its main missions are (1) to distribute research grants; (2) to provide fellowships to Japanese young researchers; (3) to carry out international programs; and (4) to support university reform.  Along with its international programs, the JSPS runs with nearly 90 overseas counterpart agencies such as NSF or NIH.  JSPS also offers various invitation fellowship programs to Japan for overseas researchers and graduate students in accordance with each research career.  Through these programs JSPS supports every year thousands of researchers/graduate students exchanges.  The purpose of this information system is to introduce JSPS and its international programs to support international research collaboration.

In addition to officials from JSPS’s Washington Office, a former JSPS Fellow – Dr. Greg Gurgin (ECE) – will be on hand to share his views.

This event is sponsored by Georgia Tech’s Sam Nunn School of International Affairs.
