Provost Announces Search Committees for Academic Leadership Positions

Primary tabs

Provost Rafael L. Bras has formed two search committees, each with the responsibility for identifying candidates to assume principal leadership positions at Georgia Tech.

The action follows recent announcements that College of Architecture Dean Alan Balfour and College of Sciences Dean Paul Houston intend to resign from their roles and return to the faculty at the end of the academic year. Professors Terry Blum and David McDowell have accepted invitations to chair the respective committees. Blum is director of the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship and the Ted Muchchak chair in the Scheller College of Business. McDowell is a Regents’ Professor in the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering.

Both committees will have the assistance of a firm — R. William Funk and Associates — which specializes in higher education search consulting. For a detailed description of the positions, committee members and search timelines, visit www.provost.gatech.edu
