GEORGIA TECH-SAVANNAH TO HOLD SPRING GRADUATE RECOGNITION AND AWARDS CEREMONY

The Savannah campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology will hold its annual graduate recognition and awards ceremony on April 24, 2012. Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctoral candidates will be honored and inducted into the "Order of the Engineer." In addition, scholarships and awards will be presented to three students during the ceremony.

WHAT/WHO:

Bi-annual ceremony conducted by Georgia Tech-Savannah to recognize all graduating students. The 46 graduating students are eligible to be inducted in the Order of the Engineer, which was initiated in the United States to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer.

Georgia Tech-Savannah will present scholarships and awards to current as well as graduating students.  The awards include:

  • Howard J. and Mary Morrison Engineering Entrepreneurial Award will be presented to one student to recognize their creativity, ability and potential to contribute back to society through invention, ideology and application.
  • Georgia Tech-Savannah Student Leadership Award recognizes two students who have made a lasting impact on campus.

 The featured guest speaker is Liam Brown, vice president of manufacturing operations at JCB. Brown has more than 30 years of engineering and operational experience. Prior to joining JCB, Brown held positions at Jaguar, GE and Eriksson.
