Predicting Player Performance for Fantasy Football

Primary tabs

This presentation explains the process for developing the scoutPRO™ player ratings for fantasy football. The scoutPRO recommendations are used to help the Fantasy Football General Manager (GM) optimize their roster and win their league. During the football season, weekly measures of accuracy are collected by a Georgia Tech PhD student to compare scoutPRO to other fantasy football analysts and tools. The presentation will review these measures and how they are used by the scoutPRO team. The session includes an interactive discussion with the students to debate the following questions:

  1. Can scoutPRO be more accurate by translating player ratings into fantasy points, not just skill ratings?
  2. Are there any predictors that can be used for injuries?
  3. What are other possible applications of the scoutPRO technology?
