Hu's research featured on Good Morning America and NPR

Primary tabs

Two research projects from Dr. David Hu's lab (Biology & Mechanical Engineering) have been featured in several media outlets recently.

The first project focused on champion pumpkins, which can reach over 1,800 pounds. Hu and his team asked how these pumpkins can get so large without breaking. The results of this research were featured on the NPR show "Science Friday". A transcript of the NPR program discussing Dr. Hu's research can be found here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130754085

The second project focused on how dogs shake themselves dry, and has been featured on both Good Morning America and NPR. The research asked about the speeds at which animals should shake to dry themselves off. This research has the potential to make washing machine design more efficient, and links with the Hu Lab's interests in biologically inspired design.
